The social media reaction was generally negative, with many fans picking Ankalayev to win based on Pereira’s training regimen. The challenger was already a heavy favorite heading into the UFC 313 pay-per-view (PPV) main event, which will take place on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“[Pereira] was also seen in Australia last week, and he was shaking hands with Drake as Drake was going on stage for his concert,” former UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier said on “Good Guy/Bad Guy” with Chel Sonnen. “One, Drake loses millions of dollars on people all the time, so you don’t want Drake to bet on you because he doesn’t have the best winning record. But what is Pereira still doing in Australia? He fights in two weeks! Ankalive is already here, he’s in Vegas, I met him at UFC PI last week. Honestly, he’s so pumped, he’s ready to win this fight against Alex Pereira.”
Ankalive has been critical of Pereira’s title reign ever since the promotion moved him to style-friendly opponents like Jamaal Hill and Rountree Jr. — two strikers by trade. However, AnkaLive is partly responsible for his second-tier matchmaking and will be heavily discussed at UFC 313.
